Position Overview


The Sr. Instructional Designer will be a core member of the Index Analytics HCD Team and work closely with program team members and leadership to define and drive a strategic Instructional Design vision across programs, projects, and the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong strategic thinker who will champion and advocate for Instructional Design best practices, using various methods to drive initiatives and deliver a meaningful and strategic rollout of training materials and artifacts to product and service users. It is expected that the candidate is a self-starter, able to collaborate with Experience and Service Design practice leaders and other program team members (visual designers, content strategists, engineers, etc.) while adopting a One-Team product mentality to deliver effective, efficient, and satisfying user experiences.


Responsibilities



  • Work closely with HCD Director and other leadership to drive comprehensive training experience strategy and a vision for educating users on our products, ensuring consistency in quality and outcomes.

  • Lead the strategy, design, and oversight in training development and materials.

  • Conduct all aspects of research necessary, using insights to inform decisions, drive training requirements and actionable enhancements in an environment of change, achieving cohesion between users, subject matter experts, and business needs.

  • Use design software (Figma, Mural, other) to develop computer-based training for local and distant learning.

  • Work closely with Change Management Subject Matter Experts to understand and implement training needs across a diverse user community, and conduct any live training sessions via Zoom.

  • Develop any necessary supplemental training materials such as micro-tutorials or job aids.

  • Develop concise and lean training materials and content such as eLearning modules and other resources and tools.

  • Develop and maintain highly organized / structured repositories of all instructional design training materials and other educational documents as needed.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (including product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders) to define and implement innovative training solutions.

  • Ensure your decisions are data driven.

  • Approach work with highly ethical standards of practice and performance.


Qualifications

 



  • US citizen or Authorized to Work in the US and have lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience developing and updating training and educational materials.

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience conducting applied research using a variety of methods within a variety of settings, such as formative and generative research techniques to deliver instructional outcomes.

  • Proven experience leading the research and development of training materials in an environment of change.

  • Ability to plan and execute strategic goals while driving collaboration among team members and stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of systems design with excellent instructional design acumen and heightened sensitivity to user-system interaction.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of effectively engaging and influencing stakeholders and users at all levels within the organization.

  • Strong ability to present, communicate and tell the story that sells your strategy and instructional solutions to stakeholders and clients.

  • Experience working within the agile lifecycle a plus.

  • Remote with a chance of limited travel.

  • Experience using various research, design, and agile tools a plus: Figma, FigJam, Mural, Dovetail, Qualtrics, Confluence, Jira.

  • Experience working on Federal Government contracts is a plus.
