Position Overview
The Editorial Manager is a leader within the content development team, responsible for writing and producing e-learning content for healthcare professionals. This candidate will oversee the processes of analyzing and leveraging various types of content to design structured, competency-based curricula. This role focuses primarily on coordination of designated editors and other members of the editorial team to meet requirements of maintenance project and new project deadlines, criteria, instructional design, and editorial guidelines as well as acting as a thought leader for better processes and procedures for efficiency and productivity. The Editorial Manager will lead a team primarily of program editors and sr. program editors as well as contract writers, project managers, and vendors.
This role works closely with other content development lanes, product management leadership, members of the executive team, and other internal departments to define and implement the content vision and roadmap, assuring attainment of revenue and customer satisfaction goals, and aligning all activities with HealthStream’s organizational strategy and goals. This person should possess superior people skills to foster a culture of process excellence and collaboration.
The successful candidate for this position will have experience in clinical curriculum development. They will have the ability to plan and execute their own activities with generally defined goals and minimal supervision, as well as manage multiple concurrent activities and complex projects with the appropriate prioritization and focus.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.
Evaluate and manage the strategy for editorial efficiency across both maintenance and new development content, in collaboration with product management and aligned with organizational priorities.
Collaborate effectively with clinical subject matter experts (SMEs), vendors, members of the content development team, and other product or business-related stakeholders.
Oversee the management of multiple projects concurrently, assigning the appropriate internal/external resources to achieve the desired timeline and budget.
Monitor resource utilization and report to upper management regarding needs and provide potential solutions to meet priority content asks.
Design and develop content for customer/learner consumption, applying adult learning principles and systematic instructional design to create learning curricula that best fits the needs of a competency-based program (includes online courseware, classroom facilitation guides, simulated case scenarios, skills checklists and other blended learning assets).
Leverage content development SMEs, contractors, and vendors to execute rapid, agile development techniques and create content for a rapidly changing environment.
Requirements
Degree in Nursing with active licensure
Clinical and healthcare-related experience required, federal/state compliance and facility accreditation experience preferred
Five or more years of experience in a curriculum development role or similar.
Demonstrated experience designing and developing training materials and content to include creating instructor-led materials, online/e-learning modules, job aids, online tutorials and other training materials
Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and provide relevant thought leadership in the areas of knowledge and competency
Familiarity with SCORM, online learning, as well as learning and authoring technology
Demonstrated experience with curriculum development tools, learning management systems, social learning tools, and MS Office
Qualifications
Excellent presentation and written communication skills
Superior project/program management and organization skills
Ability to use MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint competently
Proven ability to work independently, exhibiting a high level of personal ownership and accountability
Ability to communicate effectively with subject matter experts or authors, as well as various levels of management to express goals, strategies, and concepts
Ability to apply adult learning principles and incorporate this into curriculum and content design and development.
