Job Description
As a Special Education Teacher at The Menta Group, you will have the freedom and ability to virtually educate a small classroom of students in a self-contained setting. Our social-emotional learning environments offer engaged and inquiry-based academics combined with a P.B.I.S. structure.
Must have or be able to obtain Illinois PEL with Special Education Teacher Endorsement (LBS1)
If you are located within 20 miles of the school for which you've applied, you will be considered for an in-person LBS1 Teacher position at that school. If you are only interested in a virtual position, you will be considered for a Virtual LBS1 Teacher position at Menta Tech Virtual Academy. If you are over 20 miles from the school for which you've applied, you will be considered for a Virtual LBS1 Teacher for that school location.
Responsibilities
- Teach all subjects in a virtual classroom setting
- Provide differentiated learning
- Work collaboratively with staff, including curriculum and clinical staff to yield positive results for the students
- Gain support on-campus from other teachers, administrators, curriculum staff, clinical staff, and various support staff that are Menta employees Have the freedom and ability to personalize learning
- Provide a virtual social-emotional learning environment
- Have a virtual classroom size of around 10 students
Qualifications
- Current, Issued IL PEL (Professional Educator's License) LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) is required
- Must be flexible in the ability to teach multiple grade levels as student populations change
- Ability to virtually teach a classroom of students within all basic instructional areas
- Ability to virtually work with youth with emotional/behavioral/academic difficulties
- Ability to be flexible, work in teams and creatively problem solve
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively
