Fixing our K-12 education system is a civilizationally-important problem. We believe that all of our problems — including the ones that dominate the headlines — are downstream of education.
We have a simple thesis on how to solve it: empower 1,000's of educators to launch microschools in their communities.
We believe the historical tradeoff between price (tuition) and quality is a false dichotomy.
PrimerOS automates and eliminates much of the costs of traditional schools. Microschools have a structural advantage — asset-light real estate — which means much lower capex and opex. You put it together, and you get something that's never existed before: a world-class education that's accessible to normal American families and can rapidly scale.
You are an expert in Literacy who enjoys the freedom of working from home.
You have 2+ years of recent full-time experience teaching 3rd-8th grade
You have high expectations for student achievement and get a rush while analyzing the assessment data you frequently use to inform your planning.
You love to build and adapt the curriculum to create engaging, rigorous, and relevant experiences for your students.
You build relationships with kids through engaging content and tasks.
You're flexible, adaptive, and excited to lead in this new world of microschools. You are eager to work with others to create a new way for kids to learn.
You're comfortable with online tools similar to Google Classroom and Zoom.
This is a fully remote position, so you must be comfortable working that way
The majority of this work falls into the following buckets.
Curriculum Planning - You'll adapt the curriculum in your content area to meet the needs of your students in a hybrid setting.
Teach - You'll teach approximately 6 lessons per day, virtually, to cohorts of kids.
Data - You'll collect and analyze diagnostic data and use it to inform planning, grouping, and interventions.
Mastery-Based Grading: By regularly documenting data, you'll give kids, families, and other teachers a clear window into a student's progress.
Collaboration: You will work with other Literacy teachers and our on-the-ground Microschool leaders to improve student outcomes.
You should not join us if you believe the traditional education system works well for kids and families- we are looking to provide a new education system.
You should not join us if change and flexibility are hard for you. We are a startup and entering our 3rd year of running schools. Things frequently change to meet the needs of our kids.
You should not join us if you believe the only way for kids to learn is through a teacher-led, in-person experience. We are using a hybrid of in-person, apps, and virtual platforms.
