As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for writing quality technical collateral for use by customers, prospective customers, and internal stakeholders. You will work extensively with the Product Management, R&D, Marketing, and Support teams.

The successful candidate must be able to respond to the challenges of working within an agile development environment and master the vocabulary of the EHSQ software industry.
This position is open to intermediate-level candidates with 2 -5 years of experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborate with product specialists, software developers, and other subject matter experts to produce exceptional technical documentation under tight deadlines
    • Create/proofread/edit documentation that explains complex technical concepts and specialized processes to an audience that ranges from system administrators to end-users within the EHSQ industry
    • Documentation will typically consist of:
    • Product Management: architectural overviews, user guides, system administration guides, release notes, and documentation templates
    • Marketing: suite and module descriptions, technical collateral for use by the Sales team, email notifications about product releases and updates
    • Support: software maintenance and release notifications
    • Support technical content development for the user community
    • Maintain a schedule of activities that support our product releases
    • Serve as backup for the management of software user-interface translations – support the work of a translation agency and ten independent translators
    • Take on other routine responsibilities, assigned as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

    • 2 - 5 years experience in a technical writing role or equivalent, ideally in the software industry
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Experience working as part of a cross-functional team
    • Intermediate-level experience using one of the industry-standard desktop publishing tools (FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, etc.)
    • Expert-level use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Experience using Jira project management software, Confluence, and SharePoint preferred, but not required
    • Experience using an online documentation authoring platform such as ClickHelp or Knowledge Owl preferred, but not required

EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate or complimentary field (journalism, EHSQ, software development, etc.)
