Acentra seeks a Senior Health Intelligence Programmer to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Health Intelligence Programmer with a strong database background in SQL and AWS services. The candidate will assist with re-engineering current database systems to transition from SQL Server to the AWS cloud while continuing to support existing SQL Server report requests. This role is crucial in driving business solutions by building data models and actionable reporting, with a focus on leveraging AWS resources for advanced analytics.

*Position is remote within the United States.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in the migration and re-engineering of existing SQL databases to AWS Redshift
  • Analyze and design database systems and reports to determine the new report database requirements
  • Develop and implement database objects and code to address business requirements
  • Optimize and debug SQL queries, stored procedures, database transformations, and processes for both Redshift and SQL Server to ensure efficiency
  • Maintain and enhance scalable database structures to ensure high performance and reliability
  • Create and manage database objects such as tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, and triggers
  • Write new stored procedures and design optimized views to improve database functionality and performance
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define database design requirements and specifications
  • Mentor junior programmers and provide guidance on best practices in AWS Redshift and database design
  • Design and implement data pipelines and ETL processes to facilitate efficient data flow and integration
  • Research and resolve data inconsistencies and issues in database systems


Requirements

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, database programming, and performance tuning
  • 5+ years of experience in agile development environments
  • 5+ years of experience with healthcare claims, HR, finance, and utilization management data
  • 5+ years of extensive experience creating and maintaining database objects, including tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, and functions
  • Expertise in database design and programming, with a focus on SQL and AWS services
  • Advanced skills in SQL query optimization, stored program development, and performance tuning
  • Proficiency in AWS services (Redshift, S3) and associated tools for data processing and analytics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL tools (SSMS, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS)
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proficiency in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving database issues
  • Strong background in business intelligence and data warehousing methodologies
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong skills in gathering and documenting requirements for database projects

 

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Familiarity with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps for source control
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $70,000-120,000.
