The responsibilities for this key position are:
· Developing a command of GAAP, OCBOA, unique or specialized accounting principles and financial statement presentations
· Obtaining a thorough understanding of generally accepted assurance standards and common assurance procedures and
techniques
· Drafting financial statements and reports in accordance with standards
· Assuming responsibility for efficiently supervising both assurance and non-assurance engagements
· Effectively communicating with clients to receive information necessary to complete the engagement with a minimum of
disruption to the client
· Demonstrating skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty
· Demonstrating competencies in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and firm standards
· Possessing technical knowledge sufficient to train staff accountants
· Reviewing staff workpapers, making certain they are appropriate
· Performing broadest range of accountant tasks so that direct participation of supervisors, managers, senior managers or partners
is kept to a minimum
· Effective communication skills with staff, supervisors and management
· Training and instructing assistants in work to be performed
· Participating in planning and scheduling of client engagements/assignments
· Meeting time constraints and client deadlines
· Evaluating performance and providing feedback to staff
· Actively pursuing CPA license, if not already obtained
- Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree
- Min. of 3-5 years’ experience as a staff accountant
- CPA certified or candidate for the CPA exam
- Membership in AICPA and NCACPA, as applicable
- Proficiency in use of computers and accounting-related software programs
- Completion of career development requirements for staff level
- Valid driver’s license and good Motor Vehicle Record
