Job Description Summary

The Familiarization, Internalization, Articulation (FIA) Editor plays a vital role in helping Wycliffe accomplish its Bible translation mission by reviewing and editing the scripts and audios for the six-step internalization process. They utilize the FIA style guide to help ensure resources are accurate and understood and usable by oral communities.

Minimum Spiritual and Personal Commitment:

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, as evidenced by your personal testimony.

  • Identify with and participate in a Christian church and proactively seek to grow in your Christian faith.

  • Establish and maintain a team of prayer partners (minimum 3-5 partners) who commit to praying for you as you respond and commit to your season of ministry at Wycliffe. 

  • Actively participate in corporate prayer and devotional times such as weekly team devotionals, Entermission, Scripture Celebrations, Spiritual Retreats and World Day of Prayer.

  • Maintain an exemplary standard of Christian ethics, behavior and conduct within Wycliffe and in your public and private life outside of Wycliffe, and agree to abide by Wycliffe’s ethics, behavior and conduct standards at all times.

  • Demonstrate Christian maturity in all interactions as displayed by good judgment based on biblical values and principles.

  • Actively incorporate your Christian faith, as well as Wycliffe’s beliefs and core values in all aspects of your daily work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Faithfully and regularly pray for the ongoing work of Bible translation and for unreached people groups around the world.

  • Act as an organizational representative presenting the global ministry of Wycliffe and encouraging interested individuals, organizations and churches to participate in the work of Bible translation. 

  • Represent Global Partnerships’ vision, mission, values, and strategies with field partners.

  • Have a thorough understanding of SRV Partners goals, values and translation principles.

  • Edit the scripts and audios for the six-step internalization process of assigned passages/pericopes, utilizing the appropriate templates and FIA editing style guide.

  • Follow established workflow processes and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

  • Attend regularly scheduled monthly Zoom meetings.

  • Attend scheduled Zoom meetings with the Lead Consultant as necessary.

  • Other Requirements: At least 20 working hours per week. Some travel may be required for training or work events.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Global Partnerships Engagement.
     

Member Responsibilities: The following responsibilities apply to any employee who is also a member of Wycliffe: 

  • Partnership Development: Build and retain a team of prayer and financial partners that will sustain them during their entire Wycliffe ministry according to the Wycliffe Partnership Development policy.

  • Organizational Representative: Present the global ministry of Wycliffe and encourage interested individuals and churches to participate in the work of Bible translation.

Education & Experience:

  • Foundational and growing understanding of Bible translation principles.

  • Foundational and growing understanding of worldview, especially among oral cultures.

  • Good English writing and editing skills

  • Experience developing written training materials in non-western and non-first language English settings.
